Sandy was born 9-22-46 in Elwood City, PA, and arrived in Seattle at the age of ten. He started playing APBA three years later, in 1959.

As a child his favorite player was Roberto Clemente. Currently, Vladimir Guerrero fills that position ("the next best version of Clemente").

Sandy says his biggest challenge is trying to retire in a bear market. He currently works as a truck driver for local wholesaler, but expects to cut back to 3 days/week in 2004; and retirement arrives in 2005.

Most valued: family, which includes wife Joy; and sons, Ian & Quinn, who will be in college simultaneously beginning in 2004.

Fondest baseball memory: Sandy and his uncle used to feign illness on Sunday mornings in order to stay home from church and listen to ballgames on the radio (early 1950's).
