Rod McCordPhiladelphia PhilliesRod spent 33 years as a Math and PE teacher at Nelsen Middle School in Renton, Washington. He coached baseball and wrestling at Lindbergh High School and wrestling and volleyball at Nelsen. He also refereed HS wrestling for 25 years. He retired in January of 1999. He has been married (Teri) for 24 years and has one daughter, Michaela, 22 and married for a year. No grandkids yet, much to Teri's dismay. Rod started playing simulation games in 1969 when invited to join Lloyd's APBA football league, and joined the baseball dice game the following spring. He still belongs to that league, although it now plays the Diamond Minds computer game also. He joined the PSCB in its inaugural season. He began as the NY Mets in the old APBA league, switched to the Phillies in 1978 and joined this league as the Phillies. He won a championship once in each league. Rod's leisure time is also spent with sports. Besides simulation baseball, he has been playing softball for over 30 years and plays golf and volleyball regularly. After retirement, he went to work at the golf course for the free golf and takes a couple of golf trips each year. He is an original season ticket holder with the Seattle Mariners. Besides sports, he is an avid reader, particularly legal suspense novels. According to his wife, he also does a poor job of being a house husband! Although more of a baseball fan in general, he is obviously a Mariner fan. As a teenager, he was always a fan for the underdogs more than a particular team. His all time favorite players are Lou Gehrig and Stan Musial.
