Greg ScheidererSt. Louis CardinalsGreg and his wife Cynthia are baseball nuts who allowed the Seattle Mariners to pick their wedding date; they watched the M's at Oriole Park at Camden Yards during their honeymoon. They live in West Seattle with their cats Curtiss and Jenny. As Seattle was devoid of major league baseball while he was growing up (one year of the Pilots until a shyster car dealer from Milwaukee ripped off the club) Greg rooted for the Cardinals because of their cool uniforms and because of Lou Brock—his all-time favorite player—and Bob Gibson. His current favorite is Edgar Martinez. He started playing baseball board games at about age eight with the Cadaco "All-Star Baseball" game, played with player disks placed over a spinner. He kept stats and wrote up accounts of the games, which should give you a clue as to his sanity. He first saw APBA in eighth grade algebra class. (We were studying probability. Honest!). Greg was in a play-by-mail APBA league for about 27 years, and in PSCB's predecessor for about 14 before dropping both to concentrate on the computer game. He runs a solo replay effort called the Century League, which uses APBA Baseball for Windows and has a new season under way. Greg is the director of government and public relations for Independent Colleges of Washington, an association of 10 independent institutions of higher education in the state. Prior to that he worked in a media relations positions at the University of Puget Sound for four years, and for the Washington State Senate for 10 years. He spent a decade in radio broadcasting and video production as a young lad.
