Born and raised in the Seattle area, Fred was an 11 year old Pepsi Junior Mariner in 1977, when Danny Meyer was the rep, before Bruce Bochte stole the reins. Fred also earned many free “I Made the Grade” Mariner tickets in Junior High. Fred had the pleasure of visiting Fenway Park on August 24, 1996, that is until former Mariner Darren Bragg hit a grand slam off of Randy Johnson (who was pitching in relief); that was Johnson’s last appearance of the year, as he went on the DL. Fred’s only visit to Yankee Stadium was for Game 7 of the 2003 ALCS where Aaron Boone’s solo shot sunk the Red Sox.

Being a no bat and sick gloved left handed third baseman in Little League, Fred discovered Charlie Brown All Stars, where his Stars were in constant battle with his buddy Jimmy’s dreaded Atoms. Later, the APBA 1975 season received a heavy workout, and included the horrific trade of Tom Seaver for Larry Bowa, as Fred was desperate to replace Spider Belanger and Stick Michael at shortstop. Looking for red-and-white-dice-in-a-yellow-cup action, Fred and Jimmy often had two person drafts, but somehow Fred always ended up with Boomer Scott and Johnny Bench, while Jimmy always landed Joe Morgan and Pudge Fisk. After many seasons of APBA, Fred then played Strat-O-Matic, until taking a reprise from the dice after the birth of his first child.

Fred earned his BA (English) from the University of Washington and his MBA from Seattle University. He is an executive for a Seattle-based 100+ year old heavy marine construction company and currently resides in Sammamish, WA, with his lovely wife and three children.
